The Basel 22/23 Home Shirt From Macron Hits Hard

Getting their new partnership with the Swiss side off to a flying start, Macron have unveiled the FC Basel 22/23 home shirt, which features a bespoke sublimated design that instantly elevates the overall design.

Macron really are delivering for their roster of teams this season, producing bespoke designs that are rich in the history, heritage and traditions of the respective clubs. FC Basel have just joined that roster, and by the looks of their new home shirt for 22/23, they’ll be glad they did. The design combines the club’s colours, history and logos with shared graphics that pay homage to one of the city’s most iconic buildings, the Basler Münster, the late Gothic cathedral that is one of Basel’s most important and symbolic features.

As with the Blackburn away shirt, the FC Basel home shirt deserves a closer look to fully appreciate its detail. At first glance it’s a tidy 50/50 split between the club’s classic red and blue colours, but the shirt is embellished on the front and back with an embossed rhomboid pattern that represents the well-known shape of the roof tiles on Basel cathedral.

The shirt features a V neck and a sign off on the back neck with the club’s name and logo and the shape of the cathedral silhouetted against a black background. The bottom hem is trimmed on the inside with a sweatband bearing the words “FC BASEL 1893 – AI STADT, AI CLUB, AI LIEBI”.

As well as conveying a clear identity, the shirt also carries a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment, Macron having chosen to make them in Eco-Fabric, a polyester material 100 percent derived from recycled plastic and certified according to the Global Recycled Standard.
