Designed and inspired by passionate generations of women, adidas and Brazilian brand FARM Rio have combined to create a new collection for Flamengo, which boast vibrant designs that feature tropical flowers and vultures, the cadence of samba and the curves of Rio's most charming sidewalks.

Rio-based Flamengo are a club that instantly conjures images of the samba spirit that their native city is renowned for (perhaps in part because their name even sounds like a dance!), and the vibrancy and passion of their fanbase is often a source of inspiration, captured regularly by adidas for the club’s kit designs. That fanbase is a diverse one too; with Christ the Redeemer always looking on, football is borderline a religion in those parts, and it’s one that is shared by men, women and children alike. And it’s with a focus on the female contingent that adidas once again partner with another Rio-based collective in FARM Rio, to create a second collaborative collection for Flamengo.

The first adidas x FARM Rio collection for Flamengo dropped back in 2015, and this long-awaited follow-up doesn’t disappoint. Arriving under the slogan "Flamengo é coisa de tradição” (Flamengo is a thing of tradition), the collection features t-shirts, dresses, shorts, coats and even flip-flops, but the main piece is a prematch shirt, which the team will be wearing in upcoming matches.

With diverse inspirations, including tropical flowers and vultures (a nod to one of Flamengo’s nicknames), the cadence of samba and the curves of Rio's most charming sidewalks, this collection brings a feminine touch to football culture in a passionate mix of red and black.

The campaign was made up of women spanning generations – from grandmothers to granddaughters – all wearing the pieces and bringing the energy of the streets of Rio de Janeiro.
