Framed #157 | Udinese v AC Milan

It was Matchday Uno in Serie A at the weekend as the 2019/20 campaign kicked into life. Heading to the sweltering heat of Udine for the first 'Framed' of the campaign on Italian soil we went pitchside as Udinese hosted a new look AC Milan side under the leadership of new boss Marco Giampaolo.

Framed #156 | LAFC v LA Galaxy

LAFC hosted their cross-city rivals LA Galaxy in the fifth Los Angeles derby at the weekend. Would it be fifth time lucky for the new boys to record their first ever victory over the Galaxy? Or would Zlatan continue to keep them at arms length? Whatever the score there's no keeping LAFC quiet. With The 3252 in full voice the Banc of California Stadium was our banker for a strong 'Framed' edition this week, and it did not disappoint.

Framed #155 | El Paso Locomotive v Tacoma Defiance

Strange to watch a football match in an actual baseball ground (Derby County’s former stadium doesn’t count), but that’s what we did recently for the next instalment in our ‘Framed’ series, which saw USL sides El Paso Locomotive in action against Tacoma Defiance.

Framed #154 | Barcelona v Napoli

With pre-season preparations continuing, La Liga giants Barcelona and Serie A side Napoli met at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami for what was the first of a two-leg exhibition series between the European teams. No Messi in sight for this one, but that didn’t stop the fans coming out in force for the Catalan club in particular, as we settled in for a fixture that was perfect on paper for our ‘Framed’ series.

Framed #153 | Brighton v Valencia

It was a battle of the beaches at the AmEx on Friday night as Brighton welcomed the boys from the east coast of Spain to the south coast of England. Valencia were in town to up their pre-season preparations while Brighton wrapped up their warm-up campaign ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League season kick off this weekend.

Framed #152 | Liverpool v Lyon

Liverpool have had a shaky preseason to say the least, losing three and drawing one of their last four fixtures. With the Community Shield clash with Manchester City on the horizon, the Reds would have been keen to end their friendlies on a high when they faced Lyon at the Stade de Genève. With a mountainous backdrop, we took our seats for the latest in our ‘Framed’ series.

Framed #151 | Juventus v K-League All-Stars

The preseason procession rolled into Korea on the Seoul train this week, as a jam-packed crowd witnessed European heavyweights Juventus taking on a K League all-stars team. We took our seats for the next instalment in our ‘Framed’ series.

Framed #150 | AC Milan v Bayern Munich

Our own preseason tour across America continued, this time taking us to Kansas and Children’s Mercy Park as Bayern Munich took on AC Milan as part of the International Champions Cup. Another mouth-watering fixture on paper, with both sides naming strong starting line-ups, and one worthy of a place in our 'Framed' series.

Framed #149 | Bayern Munich v Real Madrid

Whether it’s a Champions League final or a preseason game, when you see Bayern Munich facing Real Madrid, it’s always worth checking out. Add to that a debut for a certain Mr E Hazard for Los Blancos, and that was enough to secure our attendance.

Framed #148 | Liverpool v Borussia Dortmund

Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana played host to its first-ever soccer match, as Champions League winners Liverpool faced Borussia Dortmund for a preseason match in the blistering heat of America’s midwest region. With both teams famed for their fans though, it was a half full stadium that took in the encounter.

Framed #147 | USA v Curacao

Reaching the business end of the Gold Cup, the USMNT were prepared for their match in the Lincoln Financial Field against Curaçao, in what was a quarter final that they were expected to stroll. The small island nation of Curaçao had not made it to this stage on merit alone though, as the US were set to find out.

Framed #146 | Mexico v Haiti

Easily one of the most impressive stadiums in the NFL, State Farm Stadium was repurposed for the Gold Cup semi final clash between tournament favourites Mexico and surprise package Haiti. Passion and pride in spades, but in their first-ever Gold Cup semi-final, would it be the end of the underdog's story?

Framed #145 | Spain U21 v Germany U21

In a replay of the 2017 showpiece, Spain lined up against Germany for the final of the European under 21 championship. Set to be played out in front of a near capacity crowd in the city of Udine, the Stadio Friuli became the destination for the next instalment of our ‘Framed’ series.

Framed #144 | England U21 v France U21

With English attention firmly on the Lionesses and events in France so far this summer, the European U21 championship in Italy may have flown under the radar for some. But with a plethora of talent at Aidy Boothroyd’s disposal, hopes were high for England’s young Lions going into their opening fixture against France in the Orogel Stadium. A fixture with potential in more ways than one for our ‘Framed’ series.

Framed #143 | Italy U21 v Spain U21

The EURO U21 tournament got underway this week, with hosts Italy entertaining Spain in a mouth-watering opening encounter. Set to be played at Bologna's Renato Dall'Ara stadium, the clash would see the talent of the Spain side, headlined by Real Madrid’s Dani Cabellos, taking on the grit of the Moise Kean starring Italy. All the ingredients for a great game and certainly for a cracking instalment in our ‘Framed’ series.

Framed #142 | Greece v Italy

The international window threw up this clash of cultures, as Italy travelled to Greece for a match played out in a blue and white palette. Both sides were yet to lose in Group J heading into the match at Athens Olympic Stadium, but this is a new-look Italy under Roberto Mancini that, pre-match, was enjoying a six-game unbeaten run. We headed to Greece for the latest in our ‘Framed’ series hoping our hunch that we'd see goals was right…
