Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” The ever present God is our fortress, a source of strength and cheer. With Him we can meet life’s challenges triumphantly.
Psalm 118:8 “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”
It’s our chief business to walk worthy of Him. He’s the keeper of our heart and mind, not our peers.
“Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.” Psalm 61:1-3
When your heart is overwhelmed, it’s easy to forget that God is there, waiting for you to turn to Him. Often we worry, stress and struggle with our problems, looking for solutions in our own power, and feeling faint of heart. What can we do? Who do we have to turn to? We feel alone and desperate, afraid to wake up and get out of bed. It would be easy to stay there and avoid our problems, but that doesn’t solve them.
Thankfully, God doesn’t forget us! He’s our refuge, our shelter, a strong tower from our enemy. When our heart is overwhelmed, when we feel like the world is against us, when we feel like giving up, we can run to God, who is always there for us. He’s our loving Father, who wraps us in loving arms and comforts us. He protects us from the enemy, and He is our rock when we falter.
Thank You God that He cares for each of us. We can place our trust in Him, knowing that even though the storm rages around us, we are safe in His love.
