PUMA Unveil The Ultra 5 Carbon Launch Edition

Unleashing a new generation of speed, PUMA have unveiled the Ultra Carbon, a limited edition introduction to the next generation of the Ultra silo. It’s been built with a springy carbon-fibre soleplate for ultimate lightweight speed.

The Ultra has been PUMA’s pinnacle of speed in football since its introduction back in 2020, where it arrived as the natural successor to the evoSPEED line. And now it sprints into a new gear with the Ultra 5 Carbon, a limited edition release designed to tease the next generation of fast football. And for that, PUMA dipped into the world of Formula One to find inspiration for speed.

When you’re talking about speed, it’s all about fine margins. That’s why PUMA have turned to a carbon-fibre soleplate – the same material used on Mercedes F1 cars. It’s the toughest, lightest, most aerodynamic material available, and here it makes its triumphant return to football, having been seen before on boots in the past, before the pursuit was abandoned due to the sheer cost  of the material.

That soleplate then features PUMA’s Fasttrax stud design, which uses insights from academic research and traction studies to provide more traction while accelerating, braking and cutting. And the innovations don’t just stop with the flashy soleplate – The Ultra 5 also boasts a PWRTAPE SQD support frame, which stabilises the foot inside of the boot without hindering agility and freedom of movements, while a lightweight removable sockliner with Nano Grip technology and Ortholite heel cushioning is present for better lockdown.

It’s a rework from the bottom up, and it’s all with one thing in mind: speed – something PUMA know a thing or two about.
